It took me ages to find a messenger-styled bag for a 17″ laptop because I travel so much and have to take the computer with me. I finally found one and this is it. This bag is excellent with so many pockets and spots for things and the computer fits perfectly. I can’t imagine a better bag!

I own and regularly use the Lowepro Fastpack 350 (laptop + camera), Flipside 300 (camera), Off Road (camera), and Transit backpack (laptop) bags. I like them all very much for their specific purposes and would rate those bags 5 stars each.
I expected the Lowepro Messenger Factor L to be just as good for its niche purpose as my other Lowepro bags, but was surprised to find that this bag just did not have Lowepro’s characteristically good “form follows function” design.
PROS
1. Light weight
2. Lots of pockets
3. Separate lightly padded inner compartment for laptop with small Velcro closure to prevent laptop from falling out
4. Rubberized handgrip, although it is very thin seems to be comfortable
5. Light padding on the side of the bag that would touch your hip
6. Orange interior which IMHO looks okay (not as nice as the Kata yellow interiors) but makes it easy to find small objects
7. Quality construction that is typical for Lowepro
CONS
1. Odd slightly trapezoid shape that is very subtle, but the top horizontal measurement is longer than the lower horizontal measurement. This makes the bag feel very wide, but not efficiently.
2. Because of the slightly trapezoid shape, the inner laptop compartment does NOT span the entire horizontal length. The inner laptop compartment is a significantly smaller part of the overall larger bag.
3. Inner laptop compartment can barely fit my MacBook Pro 15.4″, which is a very slender notebook despite its 15.4″ screen size
4. Insufficient padding on the shoulder strap. The handgrip is rubberized, but the shoulder strap is just a very thin foam, spongy pad.
5. Although I like the orange interior, there is IMHO a very unattractive and very LARGE orange stitched circular logo on the side of the bag that would be touching your hip. This logo is approximately 6″ in diameter, but maybe larger. I’ve never seen a Lowepro bag with such a strange aesthetic. I did not see this in any of the photos before purchasing the bag, but it is so unsightly (to me) that I would not have bought the bag just based on this alone
I would have to say that this bag is disappointing for a Lowepro bag. I like my other Lowepro bags because they always seemed to use intelligent design that emphasized function, but this messenger bag is just too inefficient in its use of space. It feels large, but doesn’t hold much and the inner laptop compartment is surprisingly small. The shoulder strap is disappointing as Lowepro bags usually are designed for comfortable carry characteristics. The strange and unfortunately very large stitched (approximately 6″ diameter) logo on the side of the bag that touches the hip is just unaestheticallly pleasing IMHO.

The bag holds my 17″ laptop with no problem. There is still room for books, files and the power cord in the other compartment. If you fill the extra compartrment it is a little harder to get things in the smaller pouches for PDA and cell phone. The front pocket is small and will not hold a lot. It is light weight and easy to carry. The only thing I noticed is that the strap twists under the shoulder pad sleeve but this is not a big deal. Is not a lot of padding but did not expect much with this type of bag. It was only $30 when I got mine. This seeemed reasonable compared to others I looked at. Not sure I would spend a lot more on it.

Not sure if i would pay more than 45-50 for this bag just because, well… it’s a bag. No huge bells or whistles about it but its a solid bag, solid construction and would recommend it to anyone. also, i have a 16″ laptop and it fits nicely.

Excellent and ergonomic bag. Fits my 17 inch HP with neoprene sleeve perfectly. Plenty of pockets and slots for whatever you need. I absolutely love this bag at a great price and worth every penny. Highly recommended. Item also shipped fast.
